Christmas Lights

Christmas Lights: The town of York lights up the Nubble every year for Christmas. The lighting of the Nubble takes place on the first Sunday after Thanksgiving. Thousands of people attend the event where they sing Christmas carols, drink hot chocolate and wait for Santa Claus to arrive on the fire truck. The Christmas lights come on at dusk each night from then until the first week of January. There is also a lighting ceremony for a Cristmas in July. Before you ask, I'll answer. No, the town does not bring in snow for the summer lighting ceremony.

The photo on the left is my favorite.

A few times a year the sunrise is so beautiful that you can not get the full effect on film. This photo is pale in comparison to the real view.

The photo to the right was taken on a gray day in the spring. You can see that the grass is finally green and the water at the base of the island is very calm.

This photo it typical of what anyone visiting during May - October would view.
