7-2-00: Finally I can shout it out. I've signed a contract with Darktales Publications to publish my novella "Lifetimes of Blood"!! I've had unofficial word that they were going to publish it for some time now, but it's finally offical! Don't know the exact time it will be out, but sometime in the next year. I'll be talking about nothing else when it finally comes out, so it'll definately be up here. I don't think I've mentioned this yet either, even though I've known for a while, but I got my first paying gig with Anotherealm. A very cool website, the story should be out in December. I've got a lot of other irons in the fire, so stay tuned. My first serious attempt at a novel is going well, I've got some stories subbed to some pretty big publications that I feel good about, and I'm working on my first collabrative story as well. More on all of that as it becomes more certain. 5-6-00: I've been trying to update this for over a month, and it never works. So I haven't been neglecting things as much as it may seem. Several updates here, I may not hit them all, because it's late, but here's a shot. I've got a story currently up at The Haunted entitled "Driven to Destiny." Very cool site, and the story is a bit of a departure for me, so check it out. I'm also doing a weekly (hopefully) humorous column at Themestream.com. Just go to the site, click on entertainment, then humor, and do a search for Adam Johnson. I get paid for every person who checks out one of my articles, so click on them all! I've also been accepted for a future issue of Bloody Muse, but not sure which one yet. Its the story that was my first acceptance ever, but never ending up getting published. Bloody Muse was my first publication ever, so it's kind of appropriate that it will be there. There are other things in the works, but I can't discuss many of them yet. Needless to say things should be pretty exciting for me in the next several months to a year. I promise I'll keep this page more current, so both of you that check this out keep on coming. 2-13-00: Damn, been a long time since I've done anything with this page. Got some stuff to report, not as much as I would like, but with me moving back to Minnesota things slowed down some. Anyways, I have three stories which will be coming out in print this month. "The Portal is Open" in Welcome to Nod, which I've already reported about here. "Of Men and Gods" is appearing in Burning Sky, which is a kick ass mag. "The Trouble With Dying" will be in Darkness Within, which is also great but unfortunatly is closing after this issue. I also currently have a story up at House of Pain, a site I've been at several times. Its my first reprint ever, my story "Daytime Talk is Hell" from Bloody Muse. I also saw my work in print for the first time last month! Just a flash fiction piece, but still cool to see. The magazine is Quicker, which is run out of Germany, so I don't even know how to go about ordering more copies. I know you're all heartbroken. I'll hopefully have more news to announce here over the next few months, and I swear I'll keep up with it better, so keep watching this space. 9-9-99: Lots of stuff to report, and what better day to update this than 9/9/99? First off, I have another story up right now on the web. My story "Foggy Logic" is appearing at Dead Celebrities, a very cool site. It's a story I wrote a while ago, and just tweaked a little to get into DC. It's also my first paying gig! I've also won two, count 'em, two writing contests in the past few weeks. The first was for Quicker, a magazine of flash fiction. The second is for Far West, an old-west horror mag. I have stories that will be appearing in the first issue of both. Go to Black Petals Publications to order a copy. Order several for your friends! 8-6-99: Getting into print, baby. My story "The Portal is Open" will be in the winter issue of Welcome to Nod. This is a kick ass print publication that has been around a long time. I'm way rpoud of this one. 7-29-99: Here we's go again. Another one to House of Pain. "Laughing Jonas," which originally was going to appear in Dark Corridors, will be in the October/November issue of House of Pain. I'm digging that publication. 7-16-99: Finally! My story "The Secret Life of Mr Reed" was accepted for publication on the ezine House of Pain. It's a pretty high traffic site, so should be good publicity. The story will be up next month. Check out the link from my page to see it. 7-12-99: Wanted to wait until I had some good news to change this, but none's come so I guess I'll tell the bad. Dark Corridors has folded, leaving two of my stories homeless. Hopefully they'll be picked up elsewhere soon. 6-11-99: Received confirmation of my story for Sinister Element's Sawtooth Creek section. It should be up sometime in October. And I can't believe I didn't mention this in the last post, but my story "Daytime Talk is Hell" is up on Bloody Muse right now! First actual publication, if not my first acceptance. Go read it!! 6-4-99: My story "Cross Town Traffic" was accepted for next years Hazard Community College Anthology 'Kudzu.' They wanted it in this years, but computer problems caused a few of the stories to not get in. The story isn't really horror, but who cares? I'm up to 5 now! 5-20-99: Who's on a roll? The Big Daddy's on a roll! My story "Daytime Talk is Hell" was just picked up for the June issue of Bloody Muse. That's 2 in 3 days kiddies. And the nice thing is this took two days to be accepted, and will be published within three weeks of acceptance. Check it out through the link on my main page. 5-18-99: Another acceptance! My dark comedy "How Roger and Bruce Saved Satan" was accepted for Sinister Element's shared world enivronment, Sawtooth Creek. I have to do a rather major edit job to make it fit the shared world envirn., but I'm still in! Don't know when it will be up, because they want to get some non-comedies in before mine. I'll post when I find out. Check out the Sawtooth link on my main page. An excerpt will be up once I finish the editing. 5-15-99: Got a beautifully designed banner for my page today. It was done by Weston Ochse, a fellow horror writer. It was done nice, quick, and cheap. He also designed the banner in my links section. Click on it to see his site. 5-1-99: Acceptance #2!! Once again from Dark Corridors. My story Laughing Jonas will be appearing in the January/2000 issue. I'd make some comment about being published in two centuries or millenia's or something, but the year 2000 is actually the last year of the 20th century. If you don't think so you're an idiot. 4-29-99: Just started the page today. I know it'll suck for a while, but bear with me. As far as the writing thing goes, I received my first acceptance a few weeks ago from Dark Corridors. My story Riders of the Storm will appear in the July issue.
