"I MISS YOU"

By Helen Charlotte Hill

Before I realised you belonged to someone else,
My heart had let you in;
From that very first kiss
You coaxed my soul into your world
And I didn't want to leave again.
But now my heart hurts
And I miss you.

Before you even spoke to me,
I felt a pull towards you,
Then I dreamed one night
Of a warm embrace
Where I was wrapped up in you;
You never left my dreams again.
But now I'm cold
And I miss you.

When I learned you belong to another,
I told my heart not to fall;
But at the time I didn't realise
It was too late after all,
My heart was yours already.
And now it's broken,
And I miss you.

I miss your gentle demeanour,
I miss your tranquil air;
I miss running my fingers
Through your feathery hair.
I miss the way you talk
About your present and your past,
I wanted to know all about you,
And pack it into my heart.

We found ourselves in a cocoon
To which the world was blind,
We lay there, passion sated,
Our limbs intertwined.
There was a timelessness
To our moments,
A bonding of the soul
...At least, I thought so;
But now I'm all alone
And I miss you.

You've cast me out
And I miss you.
