"EVER
YOURS"
By Helen
Charlotte Hill
My hopes lie scattered in
fragments on the ground
Like the blood-red petals of a dying
rose.
The part of my heart which remains
ever yours
Withers and weeps and aches for
you.
My shoulders are heavy with the
burden
Of the pain I know you
suffered.
In my mind float the misty
memories
Of times when I could see
you,
When I was near you,
The diamond-precious
time
When I held you...
But now you are out of
reach.
You slipped away with shocking
abruptness;
One minute here, the next -
nowhere.
There is nothing more
painful
Than a parting with no
goodbye.
If I had never believed in
eternity,
I would have to believe in it
now,
For if I truly felt you had gone
forever
And I could never reach you
again:
I would die.
