Crayon Lipstick cover
This is worked in tubular peyote and flat round peyote.
This cover is removeable so when the lipstick is gone, you can put in a new one.
Supplies:
Delica beads in a crayon color and matte black
a round tube of lipstick
nymo
small amount of stuffing
1. Make a circle of an even number of beads that will fit snuggly around the tube of lipstick, pass the needle through all the beads again and tie. It works out best if half of this number is a multiple of 5,6 or 7. If it is also a multiple of 3 that is even better.
2. adjust chart to fit the number of beads.
3. Follow the chart until the piece will cover the lipstick cap. Either start a new circle or do one row in a contrast thread to be separated later, and continue until the bottom of the tube is covered.
4. Point: Follow directions for making a 3 sided cone shape from the instructions for a Bi-cone bead on Emily's Mining Co. site . Continue increasing every 3rd row until there are 1/2 the number of beads as the starting circle of the tube (add or leave out an increase if necessary). Work 2 rows even.
5. Brick stitch the sides together to make a cone, zip up the cone to the bottom of the tube.
6. End: Work a flat circular peyote circle(start with 5,6 or 7 beads, depending on the beginning circle). Anne Hawley's Flat round peyote instructions are great.
Continue to increase until the piece matches the other end of the tube. Zip onto the open end of the tube.
Stuff the end of the point so it will hold it's shape. If you add a strap, attach it to the cap side of the cover.
I will try to graph this for size 11 beads and possibly to fit a chapstick in the near future.
