Looking at this, you suppose that you are looking at a web-page- after all, this is what a web-page looks like, and you also have every reason to believe that you are on the internet. And, of course, all the appearances support these beliefs.

Appearances, however, can be deceptive. For example, as Descartes might say, this could all be a delusion being fed to you by a pernicious demon; or, in Berkeley's view, it could all be just a manifestation of the Divine Mind. You thus see that the nature of what you are seeing at this moment is a matter of staggering cosmic significance, which might require a reworking of our most basic assumptions of the nature of reality.

Or, of course, it might just be a web-page.
