What Can a Love Go Through?

What is far away to you?

What is the longest stretch of sky?

How many miles could you handle,

Between your heart and mine?

What is a long time to you?

What is the very longest day?

How many hours can you handle,

Until side by side we lay?

What is a true love to you?

What hard times must two lovers go through?

What are you willing to do for me?

What all can I do for you?

A real love lasts forever,

Even longer than the lovers will.

But even if they can't handle the worst,

Their love will continue still.

Playas Are Just Love Fools

Well, of course I am a love fool!

Anyone could have told you that!

All I do is isolate myself in my room,

That's where I write, My poetry At!

Sure, I've fallen for too many,

But you only have one life to live.

I think I know what my problem is,

I just have too much love to give!

Sometime's one, can't help themselves,

They want to play in the game.

We playas rule the world I tell ya,

Our minds all work the same.

But you know what happens,

When two playas fall in love?

They become a match that's made in Heaven,

A grace from up Above.

Lightning

The Lightning is a secretive thing,

Who jumps you with ease and grace like the wolf.

It will be as silent as the deer,

and scare you like Death itself!

YOU ARE

No matter how far away you are,

I will always love you!

No matter how short of a time you're gone,

I will always miss you!

No matter how many guys I know,

You're always on my mind.

Last night, when I looked up in the sky,

You were the only star that shined.

Brighter than the Sun you were,

Lost in that spotted sky of black and white,

If only you were a rose,

In a vase beside my bed;

I would take the greatest care For you,

Even after you were dead.

I would pick up all your petals,

And put them somewhere safe for only me;

Your beauty would be Forever kept,

Something so very special, Only I can see.

WHY

Why is the darkness so silent?

Why is the cold so mean?

Why are we meant to be,

And why at night do we dream?

There's somethings I just can't answer

Like why do the good, die of the cancer?

and why do I sit and ask why?

Confused and wondering under the midnight sky.

But there are some things

I will never know,

Like,

Why is there Sparkle in the Snow?

Joelle Cantrell Shelton

Deep

When you're in too deep,

And there's no way out.

The darkness creeps,

And there is no doubt.

First you're not seen,

And now you're gone.

The only night that will gleam ,

Is what your shadow falls upon.

So scream out loud,

And someone might hear.

But watch for the crowd,

That creeps up like a deer.

Listen for the groan,

From under the dirt.

So don't go alone,

And you won't get hurt.

THE GRASSES OF YESTERDAY

By Joelle Cantrell Shelton

Sprawled out in a vast expanse,

A field of my Ancestors' past;

Full of memories, not mine to remember,

A Life that longed to Last.

I feel seeds from the Grasses of Yesterday,

As they dance about my feet;

Like my people once danced before,

To the Drum's own heartfelt Beat.

The Scent of the Winds of Change,

Jog my memory further;

A Red Sunset smears across the Sky,

Like our Peoples' Horrible Murder.

An Eagle screeches through the Sky,

Returning my thoughts to the Creator Above;

Prayers for a clearer Vision,

To unite The People with our Creator's Love.

My Conscious and my Sub- Conscious,

Warring like Two Tribes;

Trying to hold on to,

What was never mine.

An Average Summer Morning

I feel the hot sun relaxing on my face,

It's summer, I don't want to wake!

I curl up tighter and wrap around my cat,

Oh, but I must rise for my own sake.

I open my eyes and pull myself up,

The little ones have gone out to play.

I hear their squeals and laughter,

How long since they started their day?

I look out my bedroom window giggling,

I see the neighbor's son working on his car.

He smiles my way, waves and turns back around,

Every morning he's covered in tar!

As I slowly find my way out of my room,

I wonder, "Does everyone start their day before me?"

My father's walking out the door complaining,

Then I noticed that he forgot his key.

I grab it up and run outside,

The warmth in the air lazily sits there;

I toss the key to him and plop on the ground,

I think I want to go back to sleep.

I Was Wrong

I thought I loved you,

But I was wrong.

I would think of you

When I heard a love song.

I thought you loved me,

But I was wrong,

I waited and waited,

I waited too long

Now it's over,

I called our love off.

I think I was wrong,

For now I miss your embrace, so tender, so strong.

I was wrong,

To leave you behind.

And I think I was wrong,

I made you treat me unkind.

But I stopped to think,

I shouldn't have to wait.

I was wrong to listen

To love songs so late.

I was wrong to miss,

A love we never had.

I was wrong,

I didn't make you treat me bad.

I was wrong,

But I've learned something tonight.

I wasn't wrong to leave you,

In fact I was right.

  Safe

Safety, safety, it's what we're looking for,

When we hear the gunshots we want it more.

A child falls on the hardwood floor,

Now to heaven that child will soar.

Revenge, Revenge, it's in our mind,

You go get a weapon of any kind.

The Killer, the Killer, you find,

Now behind bars, You'll spend your time.

It's Life! We live it, we love it, we need it more.

It's Life! It sees us, it eats us, 'Till it sees our core.

It's Life! We live it, we hate it, We slam the door.

It's Life! It keeps us, it beats us, it settles the score.
