So who is this guy, Bruce Elliott?
I was born in Hackensack, New Jersey… a while ago. After a
misspent youth and time in the US Air Force I went to Sam Houston
State University in Huntsville, Texas to study art and photography.
I became a professional photographer at NASA and enjoyed documenting
and experiencing history as it was happening, but I decided
that I needed to branch out and went into freelancing in the
Houston advertising world of Oil and Gas. Although I survived
for three year, the fulfillment for which I was looking for
in life was not acquired…
So… I took my portfolio up the east coast to Washington D.C
and New York City to find work in the magazine biz. I talked
with Time, Newsweek and National Geographic and was put on their
list for use. I returned to Houston to find my neglected advertising
clients had neglected me, hence- no business.
I took up crewing on sailboats and participating in regattas
in the Gulf of Mexico. After enduring a particular nasty storm
on the Gulf, I returned home to my Condo only to find that it
had been broken into and all my photographic equipment had been
stolen.
Returning to NASA with Ford Aerospace, I worked in the Mission
Control Center making film products and eventually went back
to school to study mathematics. Photography took a back burner
in my life for about 15 years until moving to Colorado Springs
in the early 90’s where I found the mountains and a renewed
interest in my photography. I love hiking, mountain and rock
climbing, camping and generally anything outdoors.
Now you probably know more about me than you care too.
This showing is mostly scenes of Colorado. I hope you enjoy
the images as much as I have enjoyed taking them.
Thank You,
Bruce Elliott
