Don't know why he took you away from me
to cause me so much pain.
Don't know why he covered his ears
when he heard me scream out your name.
He pretended not to see my tears
as I cried myself to sleep each night.
Don't know why he made sure
the last time I'd hear your voice
would be in a fight.
I can't forgive myself
for never telling you I love you.
I can't believe that after all you've done
I still couldn't trust you.
I saw all in you that was special
like a shining star,
but I was too weak to reach you
as you grew too far.
You never knew how much
you really mean to me.
They told you lies
to keep you away from me.
I never got to hold you,
or look into your eyes.
It's too late now,
but I don't know why.
Why am I being punished
for falling in love with you?
Why did he take away
the only happiness I ever knew?
He didn't even give me a chance
to say my last goodbye,
or treat you with the kind of love
that you were always denied.
I know you are in heaven
~looking down on me.
But I'm so miserable without you
here in front of me.
I can never touch you
or hear your voice again.
until this life is over
and my time is at its end.
I can't live like this.
I need you back again.
It's so lonely without you here.
