"Ah, this is the life..." mumbled Kate as she swung back and forth on her porch hammock, sipping a lemonade. She reached over and turned up her radio. "Kate-chan! What are you doing out here?" Kate glanced over at someone walking up the steps. "What do you mean?" She asked the girl, Kate couldn't remember her name. "It's the middle of NOVEMBER! It's cold out here!" the girl shouted. Kate frowned. "Well, ya...." she mumbled. "So?" The radio switched from the music it was playing suddenly. "~This just in! A monster seems to have appeared in the downtown area! It appears that a young woman is fighting it! We suggest everyone seek an alternate route from-~" Kate spit her drink out and jumped up. "WHAT! Young girl! No, it couldn't be the FSC.... they disbanded didn't they!?!" The girl watched Kate run over to the radio and turn it up. "~we now return to our regular programing...~" "Darn!" Kate shut off the radio. "The FSC?" the girl asked. "Don't you keep files on them?" Kate whirled around. "I have all the newspaper articles, pictures, I SEARCHED THROUGH THEIR GARBAGE!" She shouted and started to run into the house. Suddenly an explosion rocked the ground, the house burst in to flames. Kate stood with her mouth open has she stared up at the burning second story. "MY FILES!" Kate ran into the building. "Kate-chan don't!" yelled the girl. The girl backed up as a piece of burning wreckage fell down. She watched as a slightly singed Kate came back out holding a pile of folders. She turned to go back in but the girl grabbed her as the second story crashed down on the first. Kate's eyes grew big. "ALL MY STUFF WAS IN THERE! ALL MY STUFF ON THE FSC!" "Well, you got some..." the girl gestured to the pile. Kate walked away from the building, tears briming in her eyes. A peice of paper floated by her foot. She reached down and picked it up, then reached in her pocket for her cell phone. She dialed a number... >"Welcome to the FSC automated receiver. "--" Kate listened to the phone with some interest... but something was wrong with the whole thing, and Kate couldn't put her finger on it...
