Supplies:
Assorted buttons, at least
1" diameter (for head)
Assorted buttons, and charms,
approximately 3/8" (for nose and ears)
Small wiggle eyes, or half
bead eyes
Plastic eye lashes (found
in the doll section of you craft store)
Assorted pin backs
Assorted colors grosgrain
ribbon, 1/4" wide (optional)
Aleene's Thick Designer
Tacky Glue, or cool melt glue gun (hot glue will melt the eye lashes!)
Tooth picks
Instructions:
1. Select a large button
for pig head. Shank buttons will work, but you must cut off the shank.
2. Select button for nose,
ant two hole button will work.
3. If using charms for ears,
etc., choose them now. If using ribbons, choose colors now. (It is best
to keep all the components for each button together, so assembly is easier
later.)
4. Begin with largest button.
Lay it flat, right side up, on your work surface. Lay out where the other
components will be placed to get an idea of what you want your pin to look
like.
5. Glue on "nose" button.
6. For eyes, place a small
dollop of glue on largest button. Lay 2 - 3 eye lashes in place. Follow
with wiggle eye. Press slightly to adhere. Repeat with other eye.
7. For bow tie, glue desired
charm at bottom center of largest button, OR tie a bow, or knot in the
grosgrain ribbon. This finished bow should be about 1 1/2" to 2" across.
Glue in place. (You can also tie a knot in the
center of the ribbon and
pull the threads to fray, as on the red pin, above.)
8. Set aside to dry completely.
9. Once dry, turn over and
add ribbon, buttons or charms for ears, and pin back. Let dry. There are
a few choices of pin back available. The picture shows the "bar" style.
There is also a tie tack style, as well as earring backs. These come
in either gold or silver finish. The same steps above are used to
make matching earrings. If you desire hanging earrings, you must drill
a 1/16" hole at the center, top of each large button to accommodate a jump
ring or ear wire. To make a charm holder, drill holes along the bottom
edge of
the largest button and add
jump rings and charms. (This is very cute!)
How to make functional and decorative box and basket dividers:
1.Use 1/4" thick foam board
to construct the dividers. Cut two pieces of the foam board to accommodate
the length of the box or basket you're organizing. Cut two
pieces of foam board to accommodate the width of the box or basket.
2.For each piece of foam
board, draw a line just above the center horizontally across the board.
3.Beginning 2" in from the
outside edges of the board, draw a vertical line downward from the horizontal
line. Repeat this step on the other end of the foam board. Draw these vertical
lines on all four pieces of foam board.
4.Create interlocking pieces
by using a double-bladed utility knife to cut along the vertical lines,
leaving two 1/4" grooves in each piece of foam board.
5.Slide the grooves of the
width pieces into the grooves of the length pieces to construct the dividers.
6.Cover the foam board with
an adhesive-backed fabric or contact paper, and place it inside the basket
or box to create wonderful, customized organizers perfect for storing jewelry,
craft supplies, etc.

1/4 yd. of cotton fabric
1/4 yd. of coordinating Felt
1/2 yd. of coordinating 3/4" wide ribbon
1/4 yd. Cotton Batting
All-Purpose thread
point turner
straight pins
Temporary Spray Adhesive
iron
scissors
rotary cutter
cutting mat
pinking or wavy cutting blade OR pinking scissors

CUTTING:
From fabric:1 - 7 1/4" x
14" rectangle
2 - 7 1/4" x 7 1/4" squares
From batting:1 - 7 1/4" x 14" rectangle
From felt:2 - 9 1/2" x 12" rectangles
1 For a decorative finish, cut both of the 12" sides with a decorative rotary blade or pinking scissors.
** To
make the pocket to hold the CD, make a 4" x 1/2" cut centered about of
one of the 12" sides.
1a From ribbon:
cut in half; notch one end of each of the pieces
QUICK CONSTRUCTION
All seam allowances are 1/4". Or you can simply use the edge of your presser foot as a guide next to the edge of your fabric.
HELPFUL HINT: Backstitching 2-3 stitches at the beginning and ending of all seams is the best way to keep your seams strong and stop them from unraveling. Make this a good habit!
2. Place the right sides of the 7 1/4" squares right sides together. Sew only one side, leaving an opening of 3" in the center. Then, press the seam in one direction.
3. Lay the batting rectangle over a flat surface. If using a Temporary Spray Adhesive, spray it over the wrong side of the 7 1/4" x 14" rectangle of fabric as directed on the instructions printed on the can. Then, place the fabric over the batting with the wrong side against the batting. Center the blunt edges of the ribbon over the 7 1/4" sides of the fabric; pin in place.
4. Finally, place the right side of the rectangle sewn in Step 1 over top of the fabric and batting. Pin through all layers so that all cut edges are even. Sew all the way around the outside of the rectangle, removing the straight pins as the presser foot approaches them.
5. Cut off all four of the corners leaving a 1/8" seam allowance.
6. Turn the CD carrier right side out through the center seam opening. Use a point turner to turn out the corners. Press the seams out.
7. To prepare the pocket pages that will hold your CDs, fold one of the flaps up and one of the flaps toward the back of the felt piece. Pin in place. Select either a zig-zag stitch or a straight stitch and sew along the cut edges of each of the flaps.
8. Repeat Steps 5 and 6 for other pocket page.
9. With the seam side of the CD carrier facing up, center each of the pocket pages over top. Pin in the center of the pages.
10. Then, sew through
the center of the pages remembering to backstitch at the beginning and
ending of the seam.
Materials:
doll size straw hat
2 five inch pieces of wire
pink nylon stockings
pink paint
wiggle eyes
small pink pom pom
old bowtie or wide ribbon
hot glue
pink paint
Directions:
?Begin by bending each piece
of wire into an "ear" shaped loop. Cut off the toe from each pink nylon
stocking and stretch it over each loop to form the ears.
?Push the ends of the wire into the hat. A spot of hot glue on the nside will help hold the ears in place. ?Use the pink paint to create the small ovals in each ear. It doesn't take much paint.
?Glue on the wiggle eyes with hot glue.
?Glue on the nose and whiskers with hot glue. We used the "stamens" (inside of the flower) from an artificial flower to make our whiskers. You can be creative.
?Glue an old bowtie to the
bottom. If you don't have an old bowtie, create one from a wide piece
of ribbon
bunched in the middle.
