1. you will need a gradient Map. For overhead lights, gradients will need to be white at the top, black at the bottom (or lighter at the top and darker at the bottom in Grayscale).
2.Get your figure nude loaded, and set a good pose.
3. Open the materials editor (Control U)
3 Select the Following for all the figure's materials:
A. UnCheck multiply through lights
B. Check multiply through object color
C. Make Sure all body parts have highlight color black, ambient black,
reflection brown
D. Set highlight to 1%
E. Load your gradient as the reflection map
F. Move the reflection slider to 50%
G. Load the Gradiant Map as the Reflection Map
H. HIT OK
The display render should look pretty horrible to you by now.
4. Create One spotlight two infinate lights
5. Set the spot so that it is distant from the figure but still
fairly bright above the figure
(if you have it coming from below, use a black>white gradient)
6. Set the Spotlight to POINT AT the Body of your figure (OBJECT/POINT AT)
7 Make sure that you have cast shadows turned on for the render
