Natalya has known her share of tragedy. At the age of six her parents (Roma of another tribe) died terribly of the Plague.
She was found and adopted into the Kumpania not long after, and became our foster child.
Since then she has served well, growing to become a beautiful woman and talented Gypsy Wife -- a Romni who seduces Gaje men, gives them a hallucinogenic drink that knocks them out (to leave them with pleasantly vague memories when they awake), gets their money and leaves.
However, because of a dying wish of her mother's she has long wanted desperately to be the wife of a Rom Baro. Once she was joyous in thinking that Nikolai would one day be her husband. But when it came time for the marriage to be arranged, it was decided that he would marry Nadia, not her. The couple married and were quite happy, having two daughters, while Natalya remained single and without the man she wanted.
Natalya long sought to get rid of Nadia in some way but was never able to achieve this, and spent years plotting and pining away
for Nikolai. She has long been bold and flirtatious because Nikolai has commanded this of her, but sometimes this has really bothered her.
However, a new hope arose for her in Kyrill. During the conflict between the brothers, she honestly did not care who ended up as Rom Baro, as long as she would be there at his side as his Queen.
Not long ago, for a while, she finally achieved her lifelong dream of becoming Queen. Well, sort of. Once the brothers' differences were sorted out, Nikolai realized that with Mikhail's Vitsa of the Changing Winds joining ours, we were becoming far too large a kumpania to all travel together, and so a new clan, the Vitsa of the Midnight Sands, was created, with Kyrill as its Rom Baro and Natalya as his Queen (though they were never married).
But even this was not enough for Natalya, for she could not stand the boorish Midnight Sands, and constantly bickered with Kyrill. This past autumn she left them to rejoin us, hoping to gain the even more elevated position of High Queen. But her wishes have backfired on her again, for though she travels with us again, Nikolai now has no intention of remarrying. She has often been called the Wile E. Coyote of our group, for her plans always seem to be foiled. : )
After confering with the Phuri, Natalya announced her decision to travel north,
to the Vitsa of the Changing Winds. Nikolai's protests over Natalya's leaving
were silenced by the decision of Ravena to accompany Natalya on her journey. The
Vitsa wished them safe travel with a great deal of regret and hope for the day
when Natalya returns to stay.
Natalya is renowned as the best dancer (and teacher of the clumsy how to dance in the graceful Romani way) in the Kumpania, and for her wicked sense of humour, vivacity, stubborness and courage.
