Welcome to the Maypole!

| The
Maypole occurs both Saturday and Sunday in the Pecan Grove, very
close to the Jousting field. Children of all ages are more than welcome,
and indeed we may stop you during the Faire day to give you a personal
invitation. We do ask that the smaller children, and those new to the
Maypole itself, dance with someone taller and/or more experienced. While
we all love seeing the enjoyment that little boys and girls take from
getting to dance the maypole, they are simply not big enough yet to be
able to keep the ribbon pulled tightly and off the ground at the same
time. Truth be told, many of the villagers and Gypsies alike will go
looking for a little one to help THEM with the maypole! In fact, the villagers have decided that they want to try having their own maypole in 2003. Of course, they have invited all the Gypsies to come and help make certain that their celebrations are a success! please do come and join us in helping to ensure that the maypole is an even bigger success with the villagers of scarborough faire than it has been with the Gypsies!
|
| It
is common practice to have multiple people on each ribbon. This is so that
everyone can have a turn at dancing the maypole. Also, if you should show
up late, and the dancing has already started, please let us know that you
want to dance! There will always be a place for you, we just need to know
that you are there!
|
| There
are Generally three dances performed at the Maypole, and instructions will be given
for each one prior to the dance starting.
|
| Before
the dances begin, a May queen is chosen for the Maypole from the
participants. She has a very important role in assisting us in making
certain that everyone has a wonderful time!
|
| We look forward to seeing you there! |
