A Survivor's Poetry of the Soul

Invisible
People are everywhere
But they do not notice me
I scream schrilly
They talk louder,
I try to get their attention
They walk away
I must be invisible
My heart is crying
No one is there
My soul is lonely
No one sees me
My body is sinking
No one turns my way
I must be invisible
My guts twist in pain
No one weeps
My skin shakes with fear
No one comforts me
My being calls out for acknowledgement
No one looks into my face.
I'm so lonely that...

I must have turned invisible.
