A Survivor's Poetry of the Soul

Letter to My Teachers

To my Dad, who said I was always dirty,
Allergy rashes should be cured a shower.
Ignoring my cries of fear,
You had so much power.

To my Brother, who used me so,
And preyed on my fears.
Your cruel and unmerciless heart
Always made me swallow tears.

To the Friends of my brother
What a terrible guest you were
Stealing away my soul
And replacing in me a cloudy blur.

To my Mother, who was always right
And my way was always wrong.
I thought I was so beneath you,
But I was an individual all along.

To my little Sister, who pushed me under,
I always seemed a threat to you,
Attacking all of my achievements,
To keep your pain from shining through.

To my father, who abandoned me
Leaving me with little means,
My existence was a sin in your eyes
Does my name haunt your dreams?

All of you who used me so
You really taught me a lesson,
Growing up I was to learn,
To be me was to be in Isolation.
