A Survivor's Poetry of the Soul

Welcome to a page dedicated to all
who have experienced abuse in one form or another.

I only pray that man finally learns
to cherish life, instead of abusing and destroying it.

The Healing Tunnel

Once upon a time, there was a dark tunnel on the edge of a small town called Pretense.
Everyone in the town was afraid of the tunnel, for to look upon the mouth of it,
One would think it was the entrance into an endless void.
Every now and then red lightning streaked from the darkness and disappeared into the sky.
No one knew where these flashes went but they were sure the place was cursed!
Yes, pretty much everyone avoided that dismal place till one day
a young woman happened upon it looking for Sanity Poppies.
These types of flowers were very rare but everyone looked for them.
They were told to be of yellow in color with a pink center.
Now being of a curious nature, the young woman looked at the tunnel most peculiarly.
The longer she starred, the more she noticed a sense
of rhythm in the tunnels dark swirls.
IT seemed there was a goodness about it, although, it also scarred her.
She found herself walking up to the entrance so to take a closer look at this curious sight.
In doing so, she observed scarlet edges to the waves that seemed
as sharp as to cut the surface of a diamond.
As she peered into the hypnotic rhythms,
A glimmer of light caught her eye.
Concentrating towards the center of the tunnel,
She could see a right star-shaped light in the distance.
It seemed to twinkle and dance for her.
She laughed with excitement, and before she knew it
She had stepped into the dark abyss!
As soon as she entered, the young woman was swept up into the vortex
Being tossed about, she could feel all her worries and fears
Forming in front of her were the images of her pain and hate.
Faces of monsters, events of shame, they all came forth
She watched them play themselves out, bringing with them a truth she couldnt deny.
She found herself violently crying while she relived her darkest secrets
Soon she was screaming at the figures, venting all her anguish and fury!
When her hidden tale was at an end,
She felt a cleansing wave flow through her body relaxing every muscle,
The woman turned and saw the bright, light she has spied earlier
Floating towards her!
Reaching out, she took it into her hands.
It was a glowing, yellow flower with a soft pink center.
How beautiful!, she thought, and so warming.
Looking up she noticed she was on solid ground.
A green meadow with a winding road lay before her.
She tossed her mead behind her to see the twisting tunnel
But it was different now,
There were no rolling waves, no lights, no haunting images.
Just a dirt tunnel that had served its purpose.
Relieved, the young woman smiled
Still holding the Sanity Poppy, she strolled down the sunny path.
